IABS CONVENTION
KILLARNEY 6-8 OCTOBER 2023

What a weekend!

Convention 2022 Scoresheets available HERE >

Our hearts are full and our voices weary, and we can’t wait to do it all again!

Our Convention Team did a wonderful job again this year, so thank you to every member of that team, as well as the helpful volunteers who organised, covered our registration desk, acted as MC’s and helped with prizes and C&A team. Every one of you helped to make this weekend so enjoyable for those attending!

To our wonderful judges, Rob Campbell, Sam Hubbard, Helen Whittick, Andrew Rembecki, Steve Scott and Mo Field, who gave us every moment of their waking hours to judge, provide evaluations and support the convention attendees. We are so delighted you could all make it to Ireland this year!

Thank you to the team of people who helped us look and sound great on stage: our light and sound technicians, videographers and photographer. We also want to thank the staff of the INEC Gleneagle who help us to organise and coordinate the weekend and even enjoy listening to our tags!

We had 9 different barbershop organisations represented at IABS convention this year, and we want to thank the various leaders from these associations as well as the guests who travelled to entertain our audience: HusAar - Danish Barbershop Quartet, Vocal Zone, 20/20, The Cottontown Chorus, and Friends in Harmony and the Harmony Belles.

A special thanks to those involved in the Here to Harmonise youth event on Friday: the IABS music services team, our music educator Douglas Carnes and guest quartet Lady Barbalade: thank you for making this event so exciting and memorable. We also want to say thank you to the students and teachers who took the time to attend this event - to hear your 200 voices sing together was so inspiring and we hope you will continue to sing barbershop with us!

To our members, whether you attended as a competitor, a volunteer or an audience member, we thank you for making the 2022 event the heartwarming weekend it was! It has been wonderful to see everyone again.

Roll on next year!

- Ailbhe Hayes,
Chair, Irish Association of Barbershop Singers
